Our Alpaca Herd

Keiko

(b.2006, Sire - Viscount)

Keiko meaning 'adored one' in Japanese is definitely adored as her dam, while pregnant with Keiko, developed an ulcer after her trials coming from Australia; our vets weren’t coming up with the right answers, so she was shipped off with a friend to the veterinary hospital where she was cured.

We never imagined Keiko would survive intact through this trauma, but her dam duly gave birth to our little adored one.She was one of our best Viscount cria of 2006 and the densest cria we had so far bred. Intelligent, just like her mother and sister, she takes a keen interest in anything that is happening to any other alpaca. Her first fleece had the highest curvature of the herd at 52.9. 18.91µ; 3.75sd; 19.8cv; 0.6>30µ 12months old, June 2007.

Keiko had an illustrious if short show career – 2nd Junior Fawn Female at the BAS National 2007, 1st Junior Fawn Female, Reserve Champion Junior Female, Best Fawn and Reserve Supreme Champion at the Northumberland County Show 2007, followed by 1st Junior Fawn fleece and Best Fawn Fleece at the Royal Fleece Show in 2007 and Best Fawn Fleece and Reserve Champion Fleece at the Scottish National Fleece Show 2007 (63 fleeces from the U.K.)and Supreme Champion in the halter classes of the same show.
