Vitamins for Alpacas
We are alarmed at the impact that such a sunless summer has had on the vitamin D levels of all our alpacas, not just the darker colours. Even although we started vitamin injections a month ago with darker cria, we are still noticing low grade symptoms of sub clinical rickets and can only conclude that our animals vitamin D levels have become severely depleted this summer. Particularly noticeable in an older, black, lactating dam, who has hard feed every day. We will be aggressively treating the whole herd with ADE on a four to six weekly cycle.
