First Cria of the Year
The first cria of the year has been born at Fowberry Alpacas. Maiden mother, Luella gave birth at 1.30pm on 27th April, to Paeony after a 363-day gestation. Paeony seemed entirely normal for such a long pregnancy, in other words not over or under cooked.
She weighed in at 8.4 kilos - spot on for our farm average weight. Paeony is now thriving, although getting a little tired of the constant attentions of pregnant maidens examining her while longing for their own babies to fuss over. Paeony is by Ninbella Harrison of Fowberry and continues his record of only producing mid fawn (his own colour). Paeony's dam is light fawn.
