Alpacas in the Snow
The recent weather has been tough on all livestock, but the Fowberry alpacas seem to be happy and thriving with no shivering and the whole herd are in every night. Two of our oldest alpacas have rugs on permanently, one of whom has been slightly lame with arthritis. We have had down to minus thirteen at night, but it does help that they have been able to get out in the fields during the day, every day and at around 4pm each evening there are seventy alpacas, humming loudly to come in. Water consumption has increased dramatically with just hay to eat and all grass is under ten inches of snow.
