The yarn for our knitwear comes only from our herd of alpacas which are sheared once a year. Their fleece is organically processed in as environmentally friendly a way as possible with no dyes or chemicals, thereby protecting the natural lustre and elasticity of this luxuriously soft yarn that looks and feels like cashmere. Alpaca garments are crafted using yarn in the natural colours of the herd: jet black, winter white, warm cream, pale fawn, milk-chocolate brown, conker colour, pale grey and rose-grey. Many garments are made just with one 'named' alpaca's fleece! The hand knitter who created your unique alpaca knitwear is written on the garment label along with washing instructions. Although alpaca is strong and hardwearing we still suggest treating your garment with the same care as you do your hair: use a mild hand-washing liquid and conditioner. After careful hand washing, hand wring and lay flat to dry. Knitwear can be dry cleaned.

Hand Knitted Stoles
A simple, uncomplicated pattern that allows the yarn to drape beautifully in the finished product. Black, brown and fawn stoles available. £80
Stoles available exclusively from Hope's yarn and one from her half sister, Hera's yarn. Hope's stole (Approx. 77" x 22" incl. tassels) is slightly heavier than Hera's and Hera's stole (Approx. 77" x 20" incl. tassels) is slightly softer. This is in keeping with each girl's unique fleece characteristics. Francesca's stole (Approx. 58" x 16" incl. tassels) is made with her ultra light, soft-as-down yarn, in keeping with her status as our finest bred alpaca.

Hand Knitted Biba Scarves

Hand Knitted Elmira Shawls
One of our most popular designs that displays alpaca yarn at it's best, in a lovely lacy effect pattern, with a pretty scalloped edge. The shawl feels substantial yet beautifully soft, warm and lightweight to wear. They are made using only Fowberry alpacas' yarn in three natural un-dyed colours of Winter White, Pinky Fawn and Jet Black. (Approx. 75" x 22").

Hand Knitted Conquistador Poncho
This Poncho contains a substantial amount of yarn and although it feels heavy, in keeping with alpaca yarn, it is still lightweight to wear. It measures 48" wide and 27" from shoulder to hem. It has a wide polo neck (4" tall), which can be folded over. This unique poncho drapes beautifully from the shoulder and comes in a size to fit all.

Hand Knitted JUANITA 'Arran style' Jumper
This sumptuous design of jumper takes from Arran styling but uses super soft Fowberry alpacas' yarn. Although it feels heavy, in keeping with alpaca yarn, it is still lightweight and incredibly warm to wear. This style of jumper has a round neck, is designed to sit on the waist and is wonderfully eye catching. Time consuming to make, but divine to wear.

Hand Woven Scarves
These wonderful scarves in Fowberry alpacas' yarn are hand-woven for us in County Durham in an intricate and time-consuming process, using an eight-shaft pattern. The end result shows off alpaca fibre at it's best, with scarves which drape beautifully and have a sumptuous handle. These smart scarves look good with a man's business suit/overcoat or smarter outfit. Measurements include tassels.
