Jameelia whom we thought was chocolate brown at birth, a colour we have always wanted, turned out to be bay black. She is the fortuitous result of covering her mid-grey dam with a full Accoyo white sire.

Having just purchased her dam in 2004, we didn’t have a more suitable colour of sire available, so we crossed our fingers and hoped not to get a blue-eyed white. Jameelia, has gone on to surprise us herself with a delightful whiter than white female cria from a crossing with a different white Accoyo.

We now have a black sire that equals her superior quality whom she has been bred to. We love her delightful short face and so did the judge at the Scottish National Alpaca Show 2006 where she was First Junior Black Female; her fleece was Champion Black Fleece at the same show (63 fleeces from U.K.). Also she was first Junior Black Female at the Northumberland County Show 2006.
